West Hollywood EDITION by John Pawson

West Hollywood EDITION is a Los Angeles, California hotel designed by hotelier Ian Schrager and designed by John Pawson. The property has 140 guest rooms and 50 suites, which are characterized by the iconic light-neutral color palette and the whitewashed Siberian larch wood. There are 20 unique residences on the property, promoting the hotel’s characteristic design language.

Pawson created the building from the ground up, deliberately using dramatic proportions and rich materials such as western red cedar for the entryway and oversized front doors. The Italian travertine slabs that fill in the three-story entry were cut so perfectly that Pawson’s team decided not to fill in the joints.

The West Hollywood EDITION pays homage to the region’s enduring history by reviving the energy of the Golden Age and creating a new type of meeting place for visitors and locals alike. “Sunset Boulevard became the voice of a generation and we are trying to regain the same magic and energy with EDITION – not by repeating the past, but by evoking it and steering the future with the same spirit,” says Schrager.
