The silhouette looks like a sneaker from the Nike collection from the 1980s, adorned with contemporary elements that can be traced back to the influence of Virgil Abloh’s inclination towards labels and typography as stylistic hallmarks. There’s also a bit of the iconic Nike Air Jordan 4. However, the Jordan Brand MA-2 appears as a sneaker entirely from 2021, a unisex and subtly deconstructed expression of the Jordan Brand that is meant to offer fleet feet comfort.
Nowhere is the MA-2 as easily accessible as the current and highly acclaimed Nike Go FlyEase slip-on sneaker design without a tip. However, it has an elongated heel and tongue to make it easier to slide into those sneakers, paired with a grippy rubber heel clip that makes removal a simple hands-free gesture.
The visible Nike Air Max window and rubber sole are retrospectives of Nike and Jordan’s brand heritage. The details are further enhanced by the inclusion of a commemorative label from 1979 to 2021 on each shoe.
The Jordan MA-2 Future Beginnings will be available through SNKRS for $ 150 in men’s and women’s sizes on February 25th and arrive alongside the brand’s Future Primal apparel collection.
