On this episode of the Clever podcast, Amy Devers speaks to Natalie Nixon, who grew up in Philadelphia and plays Double Dutch and Hopscotch on the street. Listening to jazz with her father and exploring art with her mother taught her the value of improvisation and emotional resonance. By demonstrating her academic excellence while being exposed to racial bigotry and red fodder, she improved her ability to recognize systems and to transcend boundaries. Her experiences are diverse and range from running a hat shop in New York City to doing a doctorate in design management in London. Today she is president of Figure 8 Thinking, a creative strategy and design research consultancy that helps executives use creativity and foresight to achieve transformative business results, and author of The Creativity Leap: Unleashing Curiosity, Improvisation, and Intuition at Work.
