FUZL is a new crowdfunding start-up that focuses on responsible, sustainable furniture from concept to construction and beyond. Every piece of its flat pack plywood collection is made in the UK using 100% sustainable materials. A bespoke model is used to reduce production and transportation costs. The self-assembling bench, chair, and table designs have been kept “tool-free,” with no small parts to keep track of, and free of synthetic glue and paint. Instead of nuts and bolts, they rely on specially designed QIK-Clips ™ to hold every piece of furniture together. Another resource is saved by online assembly instructions that replace traditional printed pages.
By creating well-made furniture that can be renovated over time, the studio makes the eco-label loud and clear. And when it comes to the furniture designs, we know that you appreciate the little details that FUZL includes – like the hidden logo on each piece.
They worked closely with leading oil specialist Rubio Monocoat on their bespoke line of colored oils and pigments to get the most out of wooden surfaces, even if they are a little worn. All surfaces are handcrafted in VOC-free, food-safe oils and natural pigments. FUZL’s current color palette includes black, birch, lobster, moss, tomato and pollen.
FUZL has also developed a 100% recyclable protective packaging using only biodegradable paper tape and origami folding and fastening methods. No bubble wrap or plastic is required for the environmentally friendly flat pack, just tightly packed cardboard components. We really look forward to what’s next for these innovators.
