On this episode of the Clever podcast, Amy Devers speaks to citizen and service designer Sarah Brooks, who grew up in Manhattan as the daughter of an actress and a doctor. With an insatiable fantasy, she spent her days walking around with the neighborhood kids or watching her mother on stage. As a teenager, she found her tribe in the punk rock scene, inspired by the DIY attitude and creative expression. After starting professionally in television production, a sudden and profound tragedy occurred that radically detoured Sarah’s life through grief, healing, and rebuilding. The journey led her to a greater appreciation for emotional honesty, human connectedness and presence – qualities that she brings to her creative work as a design executive at IBM and as an advocate for social impact and regenerative design.
