5 Ways to Pamper Your Pup on National Dog Day + Beyond

Tomorrow August 26th is National Dog Day and we thought it would be a good time to celebrate our four-legged friends. They bring us joy 365 days a year, so it is the least we can do now to show our appreciation. But let’s face it – we dog lovers show our appreciation well beyond National Dog Day, but it can’t hurt to show them a little more love! Read on for some ideas on how to pamper your pup today, tomorrow, and each day after.

1. Help your puppy look and feel good
Some dogs require more grooming than others, but they all need at least a good brush on a regular basis. It helps in shedding hair and matting their fur all over the place. You also want them to look fresh when they strut down the block on their next walk.

2. Take your puppy for some much-needed exercise
Exercise is just as important for puppies as it is for us humans. Otherwise, they’ll most likely be wild and chew up your stuff because they have too much energy and no way to get it out. Prepare them for their walk with a suitable one rope and collar, and don’t forget those Poop bags!

3. Keep them dry, warm and stylish
The weather seems to have its way – one day it’s cool and rainy and the next hot and sunny. Be prepared by having all of your gear near the door so you can grab it on your way out whether it’s a Rain jacket, pullover or just cute necktie.

4. Entertain them with a new toy
Puppies have endless amounts of energy, especially in their early years, and if you don’t keep them entertained with toys, they’ll turn your favorite shoe into a toy. A toy that your dog can chew with something you can grab makes for a fun tug of war.

5. Give them sweet dreams all night
Every dog deserves a good night’s sleep and probably 5 naps throughout the day. While you can sometimes be content with catching Zzzs on the hard floor, a soft, cozy bed will do the job. Who knows, maybe it’ll keep her out of bed.
