What Careers Led Anna Zaoui to Co-Found The Invisible Collection?

A former reinsurance risk specialist became a housewife and entrepreneur, Anna Zaoui is enthusiastic about contemporary art and Pierre Chareau (she lives in an apartment of the French architect!). As an art collector and patron of the arts, Anna is a council member of several institutions, including the International Council of the Design Museum in London and the Hayward Gallery. Her Moroccan roots and her French upbringing shape her taste, which she describes as classic with a bite. A tireless traveler, Anna spends her time between London and New York, always looking for emerging artists and working with world-renowned interior designers.

Above all, Anna brings her collector’s eye with her The invisible collection as a co-founder. The Invisible Collection represents the best in contemporary design and offers designers a platform to sell their bespoke collections online. It is the first website to have access to an exclusive furniture inventory and make it available to a wider international audience. Each piece is made to order by talented artisans before being delivered with white glove service.

Today Anna is there for Friday Five!

Mother and Child Painting

1. Art by Egon Schiele + Richard Prince
The two pieces that I appreciate the most: Schiele and Prince, they sum up my approach to life. Schiele is about the bond between mother and child – was there anything more tender and powerful? Richard Prince’s joke is a reminder that you can never take yourself too seriously, it keeps me on the sidelines. You will always be with me.

2. Capri
My summer dream destination! Apart from its breathtaking beauty, its romantic elegance and its hidden heavenly spots. I adore Capri because it’s the only place I really feel grounded. Maybe it’s my Mediterranean roots …

Table landscape

3. Table landscapes
I love to have dinner parties, they are a celebration of friendship. Eating together at a beautifully set table is fun and enjoyable. We have a French idiom, l’art de la table, because it’s an art form. This is so important to me that we have added a number of original table landscapes to our collection.

4. Design Miami / Basel
I still remember the excitement when Art Basel launched a contemporary design section. I co-founded The Invisible Collection because of my passion for design, talent, craftsmanship and sometimes the genius behind every piece of furniture. Design is art.

5. The cultivator
This is an art club that offers curated experiences in the art world. In these times of confinement, it was my cultural point of contact with a rich online program with lectures, studio visits and exhibition previews. Notwithstanding the lockdown, the eye and the mind must travel.
