While we all know that if you are a good pet parent, it really is every day, National Pet Day is this Sunday, April 11th. Many of us on the Design Milk team are animal lovers to the core so we thought it would be fun to share a few of our pets and just a little bit about them, including their selections from our pet range that they either own and love or want to give a test run! These cats and dogs are the stars, we’re just on our way.

Name of the pet: Remy
Age: 1 year old
Race: orange tabby cat
Remy’s favorite toys are things that aren’t cat toys or things that he knows shouldn’t bother him. I always ask him if he’s an alien because he’s the messiest cat I’ve ever met!
If Remy had a choice, he would love to try the Desco Wood Cat Feeder from MiaCarxa. His favorite thing in the world is food, whether it is for him or someone else (animal or human), and this would be the perfect way to continue his journey to the connoisseur.

Name of the pet: goose
Age: 2 1/2 years old
Race: Boston Terrier
We think goose could be a goat.
I have two recommendations. One of them is this Curly Knit Sweater from Max-Bone, which makes Goose look like a sheep. He’s not keen on wearing any type of clothing, but I couldn’t help it! My second choice is this MEOW LUXE Bowl + Stand by Bendo, of which I own three. They’re very easy to clean up, which is great when you have two sloppy, messy dogs!

Name of the pet: Eero
Age: just turned 18!
Race: Korat, rescued from the Pasadena Humane Society
It is named after the Finnish-American designer Eero Saarinen (her feline enemy is called Eames, a blind 20-year-old tabby). Korats were once a traditional Thai wedding gift that represented happiness to newlyweds, and to that end, she has lived up to that reputation as the bringer of great happiness and happiness in our lives.
Our two cats are real seniors (18 and 20 years old) and we are especially aware / concerned about how comfortable they feel around the house. That’s why we have a wide variety of pet beds. This pink terrazo pet cover and mattress from Laylo Pets is not only soft and supportive, but also large enough for our two cats to have enough space to assert themselves without hissing and hitting. We also like this design because it matches a small patch of wallpaper in our hallway.

Pet names: Tanner and Juno
Age: 5 (Gerber) and 4 (Juno)
Races: Labrador mix (Tanner) and Collie / Heeler mix (Juno)
Juno grew up wild on a reservation in Taos, New Mexico and is an expert on food tracking (abandoned pizza slices on the sidewalk, snacks from nondescript walkers, etc.). Tanner is a seasoned climber but would rather spend his days on the couch watching cartoons from the 90s. (I’m serious, he loves Hey Arnold!)
Feeding the dogs has always been a matter of practicality, and that is reflected in the collection of tools I use to hand out breakfast and dinner (mismatched IKEA dog bowls, random rubber food scoop). Now that we’re all getting a little older, it’s time for a feeding kit with a bit of charm, and Boo Oh’s Mogo Light Gray Feeding Kit is perfect!

Name of the pet: Twyla
Age: She’ll be three in June
Race: domestic short hair tabby
I swear she has Bengal in her …
When my daughter rescued Twyla in February, I immediately searched our store for the matching family welcome present, which turned out to be her Ray Felt cat bed from Wiski Cat. It’s both a cozy place to nap with cats (of course, she wouldn’t allow us to collect photographic evidence) and the perfect hiding place for their favorite toys.
