The Post House is a minimalist boutique hotel in Charleston, South Carolina designed by Kate and Ben Towill of Basic Projects. The historic restaurant has been completely renovated from top to bottom and now consists of a tavern and a bar on the ground floor as well as seven cozy hotel rooms above.
Next to the restaurant there is a private event room on the second floor, which is known as the “Rose Room” and is equipped with a bar and a large number of large glazings that let in plenty of light during the day. The hotel is a combination of historical charm and modern amenities.
Kate Towill, who led the design for the project, reinvented the space by moving the bar towards Pitt Street while moving the main dining room back, opening up the outdoor courtyard. Each room is decorated with a unique layer of vintage carpets, handcrafted fittings, and local art – in partnership with Charleston Art Collective.
