Jaime Hayon Designs a Stool That Will Make You Smile

It is impossible not to feel joy while looking at the Smile Stool, right? The playful piece was launched for Madrid Design Week 2021 and is thanks to the designer Jaime Hayon and his collaboration with the British furniture brand Benchmark. Whether extra seating is needed or you just want to have fun, the expressive face will add character and a bit of happiness to your room.

The Smile Stool is made in the UK in Benchmark’s workshops from solid American cherry, with the natural grain of the wood shining through and adding character to the face. The smooth seat is covered with two round eyes and a smile that doubles as a handle. Four hand-turned legs support the stool, with two poking through the seat to shape the eyes.

We all need to remember the smile – it makes us happier, healthier, and more hopeful.

– Jaime Hayon

Another point to mention: The Smile Stool has a CO2 footprint of (-1.97 kg CO2 equivalent) and is therefore even better than CO2 neutral!
