Former President Barack Obama and legendary rock musician Bruce Springsteen have started a podcast on Spotify.

“Renegades: Born in the USA” will consist of eight episodes, two of which were released on Monday on the streaming platform. Spotify said the couple, who first met in 2008, will talk about race, fatherhood, marriage, and the future of America.

“On the surface, Bruce and I don’t have much in common. But over the years we’ve found that we have a common sensibility. About work, about family and about America,” Obama said in the first episode of the podcast. “In our own way, Bruce and I have been traveling in parallel to understand this country that has given both of us so much. We have tried to record the stories of its people. We have been looking for a way to find meaning and Truth to connect fellowship with the greater history of America. “

It’s the second series to emerge from Spotify’s 2019 deal with the former first family’s production company, Higher Ground. The opening series “The Michelle Obama Podcast” was hosted by the former first lady and started last July.

Spotify has strengthened its podcast library through several acquisitions and deals over the past several years, and stated during its Spotify Stream On virtual event on Monday that it has no plans to slow down. The company also announced a multi-year partnership with Anthony and Joe Russo, who made a handful of Marvel films.

The company also announced a new ad platform for podcasts and a way for podcast makers to get paid direct by listeners.
