Balancing Conventional and Impartial Vacation Decor

Christmas is without a doubt my favorite holiday! It’s a time of love, joy and connection. I grew up in a large family and remember our home came alive at Christmas. There was music, laughter and good conversation – it all happened during a party! Between family traditions and time together, I have gathered so many wonderful memories that will last a lifetime!

When it comes to home decor, I’m a neutral lover at heart. Therefore, of course, I tend more towards neutral Christmas decorations. This year was a first for us in many ways. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this was the first year we didn’t have a family vacation. It’s also the first year we decorate our courtyard for the holidays, using more traditional Christmas colors and decorations.

With my girls missing out on so many activities this year, it was more important to make Christmas special and extra festive for them! When The home depot invited us to take part in their Holiday Style Challenge. I saw this as a great opportunity to have some styling fun with my girls.

Bright pops of color are my girls’ favorite so I enlisted the help of my 7 year old daughter to sketch out what she wanted in our courtyard Christmas decorations! The Home Depot has everything you need to decorate your home indoors and outdoors for the holidays! We bought all of our Christmas gifts online and delivered them straight to our doorstep. I was able to compromise with my daughter and balance both my love for neutrals and her love for color. We started with this super cute and fun Christmas stake to add a touch of color to our front door. It’s the perfect welcome sign and just the right size for my girls to really feel involved in this styling process!

What does that say Go Big or Go Home ?! The joy and sheer excitement that filled my 7 year old’s face at the sight of this Santa’s sleigh and reindeer was priceless! The vibrant colors and LED lighting make this decor a fun outdoor holiday decor that is sure to delight the kids.

Neutral touches for me

I love styling with pine cones for Christmas so when I saw these pine cone grapevine wreathsI immediately imagined her at our window. They offer the perfect balance between green and pine cones. We have strengthened the festival of these wreaths by wrapping some copper fairy lights around them, creating a magical glow.

Garlands around the door just work! Our courtyard style wouldn’t have been complete without some frosted garlands to add that snowy touch. The pre-lit lighting and the pine cones on this garland allowed me to make our entrance a little easier.

A happy mix of both

We also included a tiny, glistening pine tree with a cute and subtle red bow. The flocked look reminded my older daughter of snow and the altitude was just perfect for my little girl. We even switched on a few warm fairy lights to create a whimsical feeling!

Why have a wreath when you can have three? My daughter and I share a love for this 3 ring wreath. I’m a big fan of the dark greens and pine cones as she loves the bright reds. This pre-lit, pre-decorated wreath set is a winner in my book. It added that traditional Christmas element and contrasted nicely with the frosted garlands.

There is more than one way to decorate with garlands. Hang that up Pine Christmas garland On our outdoor windowsill there was just one other way to go. It balanced the beautiful wine wreaths above by adding extra green and color that weren’t overwhelming. The fact that the garland is battery operated also means I don’t have to worry about plugs and sockets, which was an added bonus!

Most recently we captured this white deer display because it’s so noticeable when it’s lit! It’s pretty mesmerizing and makes our entrance area really cozy! Not only is it a beautiful display, but it also gives that Christmas feeling! I adore the subtlety of the red bow and gold antlers.

I am so happy to have had this great opportunity to share how it is possible to mix home decor styles! I especially like the pre-lit and pre-decorated Christmas pieces because they make styling so much easier! I enjoyed creating a bright and festive Christmas display that was fun for all of our family! I cannot put a price on the joy and sparkle in my girls’ eyes when we come out at night to enjoy our decorated courtyard. The magic of Christmas is very real and we can always use an extra helping of Christmas joy. Let us remember the blessings to be thankful for and, from my family, yours, I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
